It is in Compton, Surrey. If you have not, it is well worth a visit! Let us give you a bit of background about the Gallery.
The Watts Gallery is named after George Frederic Watts, who was an exquisite artist from the Victorian age born in 1817, and his wife Mary Watts who was born in 1849.
George was an artist in the true sense of the word. George Frederic Watts was a sculptor, portraitist, symbolist, and landscape painter.
He created based on the themes and ideas of his time, the Victorian era, and, quite rightly, earned the title of England’s Michelangelo!
Enter his wife Mary Watts, who was also a very talented artist. Mary was a well-known designer, she created the Watts Chapel (pictured below) and founded Compton Pottery.

* The Watts Gallery
The Watts Gallery being the home of George Watts and his wife, The Watts Gallery is the number one place to find all of their works & contains over 109 permanent oil paintings.
* Collections
There is a range of specific collections featured at the Watts Artist Village. Both permanent and private exhibitions are available for viewing at the Watts Artists’ Village.
* Watts Chapel

* Watts Studio
Another section of the Artists’ Village is Watts Studios, which was the home of George & Mary Watts.
It was made into a studio in 2016 for public viewing. The studio comprises of a gallery of Mary’s work, Mary’s diaries & her notebooks. You can also watch a film giving further insight into her life.
* Watts Gallery Shop
At the shop, you can get a range of items such as books, ceramics, clothing, jewelry, stationery, homewares, and things for the kids too.
* Tea Shop / Food
Fresh food served daily for all the family! Soups, sandwiches, sales, cakes, hot desserts, and more.
For kids, they also have a children’s menu that comes with coloring activities to keep them entertained too. Baby changing and high chairs are available too.
